Matt Munisteri
As the sparkling guitarist on several chart-topping jazz CDs; a critically lauded songwriter and nimble lyricist; an urban banjo-warrior and a sometime session musician; a selfless and devoted sideman; a wry-yet-honest singer; an engaging and winning front-man; Matt Munisteri is an arranger whose ear-pulling re-inventions of well-traveled songs have contributed to Grammy-winning recordings for artists such as Loudon Wainwright and Catherine Russell.
After leaving his post as the guitarist and principal songwriter for The Flying Neutrinos in the late ’90’s, Matt quietly self-released his debut CD “Love Story” (2003), winding up on several critic’s “Best Of” lists, and garnering the number two slot on Amazon’s Top Ten Jazz CDs of The Year. A formidable lyricist (“Jazz musicians aren’t supposed to be able to write lyrics that good” – The Village Voice) his literate songs have been compared to Randy Newman, Mose Allison and Bob Dorough. Matt has been featured on France’s ARTE television, profiled in Downbeat Magazine, honored with Acoustic Guitar Magazine’s Editor’s Choice award, and has been the subject of several NPR broadcasts.
Danton Boller
Boller first played an electric bass, followed by contrabass lessons with Eugene Wright (best known for his work as a member of The Dave Brubeck Quartet). Danton played in various formations throughout California in the early 1990s, and made first recordings with Lori Lacy and Evan Christopher ("Clarinet Road"). He then went on to work with Anthony Wilson, Seamus Blake, Oleg Butman, Tomas Fujiwara, Ari Hoenig, Jon-Erik Kellso - and in NYC with Matt Munisteri, Mark Murphy, Adam Rafferty, and Bennie Wallace.
In the field of jazz, he participated in 28 recording sessions with Roy Hargrove, Robert Glasper, the Village Vanguard Orchestra, and singer Kat Edmonson , for whom he was songwriter, arranger and producer on "Way Down Low" (2012).
