www.Fleurine.com Dutch vocalist, Fleurine, delivers an impressive international resume, transforming pop into jazz, exploring Cuban & Brazilian music and creating lyrics for the music of Joshua Redmond and Thelonious Monk. Fleurine and husband, Brad Mehldau collaborate with some frequency.
Fleurine has always infused her work with a great deal of Brazilian music, but on her most recent project she delves even deeper into Brazil, featuring talented Brazilian composers, jazz guitar virtuoso, Chico Pinheiro and Ian Faquini, who adds a wealth of folkloric Brazilian rhythms. Her original songs interspersed with work of some favorite Brazilian composers, such as Tom Jobim and Chico Buarque, create a haunting, delicious Brazilian-Jazz sound.
"Fleurine, a singer with an appealingly mellow tone, focuses on Brazilian Music with an evocative Jazz-lilt." - The New York Times
"Brazilian chic has nudged its way for two generations into pop and jazz, but few insinuate as distinctively candid and original an interpretation as does vocalist Fleurine. Her tender, personal smile-through the tears lyrics - some in Portuguese, some her translation from Portuguese or original English lyric....pretty, haunting tunes."
- Downbeat Magazine

Imagine a young Chet Baker, with Luiz Bonfa's chops and Marcos Valle's aching sense of melody - a record to surrender to.
