Tisziji took a lead role in the development of Toronto’s underground music scene, where he began a long-lasting, working relationship with pianist Paul Shaffer, with whom he performed, as guitarist in the musicals Hair and Godspell.
In mid-70’s NYC, Tisziji began a dynamic collaboration with saxophonist Pharoah Sanders in renowned settings such as the Village Vanguard, the Village Gate, Sweet Basil and Fat Tuesdays.
A ‘guitar-god’ to many, Tisziji adopted an ascetic lifestyle in Upstate NY, and rarely appears in public but has surfaced from time to time in the most conventional of settings. He has led the McCoy Tyner Trio at the acoustically unique Troy Savings Bank Music Hall, joined Pharoah Sanders at the Montreal Jazz Festival, appeared on David Letterman as a guest artist and at Carnegie Hall with Paul Shaffer, been a featured artist at The Iridium and at Dizzy’s Club Coca Cola/Jazz at Lincoln Center.
His uniquely eccentric sound and musical philosophy have been documented in radio interviews, to include the BBC, Harvard University, Boston University and New England Conservatory broadcasts. An accomplished author, Tisziji has independently published numerous written works encompassing his own Heart-Fire Sound, embracing the subjects of spirituality, genius, creativity and time mastery. His books and music have radically transformed the manner in which musicians think and play music, validating the spirit of the genuine creative artist.

John Medeski (Piano/Keyboards) John Medeski, of the genre-defying trio Medeski Martin & Wood, has garnered fans across the musical spectrum. Built upon jazz roots, electronics and rhythmic grooves, MMW have broken out of the traditional jazz sphere and have shared the bill with groups such as The Roots, Beck, A Tribe Called Quest, Ray Charles, Hermento Pascoal, and Phish, frequently appearing in venues unavailable to most jazz artists. Medeski’s recording credits include John Zorn, Iggy Pop, T Bone Burnett, Ray Lamontagne, Dan The Automator and k.d. Lang. Medeski has produced The Dirty Dozen Brass Band, pedal steel guitar group The Campbell Brothers, and two records from The Wood Brothers.
