Renowned Danish saxophonist, Niels Vincentz, is proud to introduce his new trio to the American jazz scene, featuring Cameron Brown on bass and Billy Hart on drums. Their first release, "Early Reflections," is now available on Steeplechase records. Mr. Vincentz has played and recorded with most of the bright lights in the Danish jazz world and international artists, as well.
Since returning to Denmark from Manhattan, he has contributed scores to short films and documentaries in addition to his performing and recording projects. The trio with Hart and Brown is inspired by the great piano-less tradition in jazz, from Gerry Mulligan to Sonny Rollins to Steve Lacy to Ornette Coleman.. Following this performance, the trio embarks on a tour beginning in Northeast US and ending in Denmark with concerts and a second recording for the Steeplechase label....

A powerful peer of Tony Williams and Jack DeJohnette, jazz drummer Billy Hart is a master of contemporary expression. He's lived through multiple sea changes in jazz and absorbed them all, recording on more than 500 albums as a sideman. Hart emerged as an accompanist to Shirley Horn and drilled in the rudiments with Jimmy Smith and Wes Montgomery. He followed jazz as some of its chief notables tried fusion — he played on some of Miles Davis and Herbie Hancock's most backbeat-driven discs in the early 1970s — and spent long stints with countless giants of jazz, since.

Jazz bassist, composer and educator Cameron Brown began his career in the mid-sixties, recording in Europe with George Russell and Don Cherry. These two wonderful musicians remain life-long influences and inspirations. Mr. Brown anchored some of the most important groups of the seventies, eighties and nineties, beginning in 1975. Sheila Jordan, Roswell Rudd, Archie Shepp and Beaver Harris were his mentors and bandleaders then. He has enjoyed special relationships with master drummers: Art Blakey, Dannie Richmond, Philly Joe Jones, Edward Blackwell, Idris Muhammad and Joe Chambers, as well as Mr. Harris.
